St. 卢克的 Baseball: Season Outlook

圣. 卢克的 School Varsity Baseball team is gearing up for an exciting campaign, once again under the guidance of Head Coach Sam Colon.

Preseason has been a period of dedicated work for the Storm, with Colon emphasizing consistent training since November. "The boys have been working out once per week since November. 引领ing into tryouts, they were all given an opportunity to come in ready to go,"

St. 路加福音’s is captained by Paul Genna ‘24, Tripp Beasley ’25, and Matt Staub ’25. Colon has high expectations for his captains, emphasizing their roles in guiding the team. "I expect them to lead on and off the field and to be supportive teammates to the younger players. I expect them to show sportsmanship and character throughout every practice and game".

Even though the season is in its infancy, standout performances have already emerged. Nate Kesselmark ’26 has exuded confidence and competitive spirit. He has caught the coach's eye, both at the plate and on the mound. Colon has been thrilled with the sophomore’s development: “Nate has had an excellent preseason. Every at-bat he takes is a good, competitive one. His confidence shows at the plate and on the mound.”

圣orm has added some new players, including Nico D’Andrea ’27 and Neil Gelfand ’27, to the roster, and Colon is eager to see the impact these players will have on the team's dynamic. “Nico and Neil are great additions to our squad, and we hope to see them hit the ground running. We are excited to see the contributions they can both make this year.”

With high aspirations, the team's goals are clear: “We want to make the playoffs and compete for a championship,科隆说。. “We need team-wide commitment to achieving these goals every single day if we want to win the Fairchester Athletic Association title.”

On the field, Colon expects nothing less than focused play from his team. "We expect our guys to play focused and hard. We want to see a relentless attitude and no excuses," he asserts.

As the team enters their first few contests, Colon anticipates close matchups. While confident in their pitching, he acknowledges that fielding and hitting may pose challenges early in the season.

Colon recognizes the need for his team to grow and adapt throughout the season, emphasizing the importance of learning and development. “We have a young squad, so we are looking for them to mature quickly. We have a lot of talent on the roster, but know how tough this league is.”

圣orm dropped its opening game at Rye Country Day School 0-1 in extra innings but bounced back with a 7-0 home win against The Harvey School on Monday, 4月1日.
